Military Kids
Dr. Gilreath is one of the leading scholars in the nation who is systematically examining differences in behavioral health outcomes for military-connected youth. More importantly, these studies are the only ones to quantitatively examine the impact of having a sibling serve in the military and revealed that family member deployments were significant predictors of increased risk of substance use (recent and lifetime), suicidal ideation, school victimization and weapon carrying, and reports of discriminatory bullying. She is the principal investigator of a federally-funded grant to develop a measure of military-salient stress for youth in public schools.
